A personal welcome to our school community
Established in 1985, St.George ́s School in Cologne is very much a family school. We offer a safe and nurturing environment for 2 to 18 years old pupils, built upon mutual respect and a love of learning. We want all of our children to enjoy their time with us as we equip them with the skills they will need to live full and enriching lives. From the Early Years all the way up to Sixth Form, our children are deeply valued. Our small classes and generous pupil–teacher ratio of 6:1 facilitate our ability to unlock their potential and develop their talents. We foster independent mindedness, a creative spirit, aspiration and resilience. St.George ́s children also develop a true sense of service to the community, with good manners and a quiet confidence. COBIS accreditation and educational excellence
Recognised standards in British International education
St.George’s, The British International School, Cologne is accredited by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). The COBIS accreditation assures that the school meets the highest standards in modern education. May 2023, COBIS highlighted several aspects, demonstrating St.George’s commitment to excellence and student wellbeing: “The pastoral structure reinforces the very caring approach for the wellbeing of all students. There are several examples where the pastoral team and heads of schools have gone beyond their remit to support students struggling with external concerns. Weekly meetings between teachers and learning assistants ensure focussed attention to the needs of students, especially those requiring additional support. |
Leadership is encouraged and there are several channels through which Secondary School students are given the opportunity to develop leadership skills. The very confident Primary School House captains take their leadership roles seriously, clearly articulating the way they support their peers. Students throughout the school are active in leadership roles and can make suggestions to the senior staff regarding proposed changes they would like to see. Respect for all is a key value of the school and this is palpable in all the interactions between staff and students. The respectful, polite behaviour of students towards each other and particularly to staff and visitors is outstanding. Impressively all staff are first aid trained and aware of the Critical Response plan in the event of an emergency. Parents spoke with enthusiasm about the way their children have developed in the school and how quickly, after arrival, they settled in.” |
